Citycare Property Community Initiatives

Citycare Property strives to be a good Kiwi company and is committed to helping build thriving local communities. Here are some of our most recent Christchurch projects:

Lyttelton

In Lyttelton, 20 awesome whānau from Conservation Volunteers New Zealand joined our Citycare Property Road Landscaping team in the most appalling conditions to mulch and plant 250 plants, donated by Citycare, to help rejuvenate a much-used zigzag walkway.

Christchurch Aunties

The Christchurch Aunties is a volunteer network of more than 4,500 people helping women and children in Canterbury who have experienced family violence and vulnerability. During Christchurch’s lockdown, the Aunties needed donations of toys, toiletries, and baby gear to support clients, as their typical strong base of donors were unable to drop items off at delivery points during Alert Level 3 and 4. To help get these items to where they urgently needed to be, the Citycare Property team reached out to lend a helping hand. As the Aunties are an essential service, our team was able to apply for and receive an essential service status to pick up donations and drop them to the Aunties for distribution.

Just the Dirt

During our participation at the Grow Ōtautahi Christchurch Garden Festival last year, we encountered ‘Just the Dirt Trust’ Chair Selwyn Eagle.

The Trust was set up to make gardening more accessible for Christchurch residents with Selwyn distributing mushroom compost to not for profits across the city.

Earlier this year, Te Pae, contacted us to see if we knew of an end user for composted waste from their kitchens. The conference centre has a composting machine for processing food waste material. Connecting the dots, ‘Just the Dirt Trust’ was pleased to accept the future compost donations.

Citycare Property also donated a vehicle, at the end of its commercial life, but with plenty of compost delivery years ahead of it, to provide The Trust with a reliable vehicle to deliver the compost.
