Proudly caring for South Auckland's spaces and communities

Citycare Property has proudly served the communities of South Auckland since 2017, delivering full facilities maintenance to enhance the wellbeing of the environment, maintain valuable assets and support thriving communities.

As a New Zealand-owned company with a national footprint and a deeply local Auckland workforce, we are committed to contributing to the city's economy and identity. As a Good Kiwi Company, we are committed to honouring the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Every day, we care for the spaces and facilities that shape life in Auckland, where people connect, celebrate, and belong.

A team of 370 Aucklanders, supported by a network of trusted subcontractors, deliver services across South Auckland. Their work ensures that parks, reserves, sports fields, playgrounds, facilities, and public spaces remain safe, welcoming, and well cared for.

Our Auckland team reflects the communities we serve.

NB: As of January 2026.

*Citycare Property pays the Living Wage as a minimum for all employees, except for those in training.

The community connection shows in the pride that our teams bring to their work. We invest in training, development, and leadership opportunities so our kaimahi can build lasting careers while strengthening the wellbeing of the places they call home. The dedication and passion of our team are what make our service strong.

Contributing to oranga tāngata, whenua, and whānau

Citycare Property's partnerships in South Auckland reflect our commitment to listening, collaborating, and acting in ways that strengthen communities through initiatives like Hāpai Te Hapori, we work alongside local sports clubs to create jobs, build skills, and foster pride. These clubs, now contracted suppliers, deliver services for their own neighbourhoods with the same training and support we provide our staff. It is practical, people-first mahi that keeps procurement local and builds capability from the ground up.

We also invest in initiatives that nourish and connect communities. The kai garden boxes we have donated to schools, churches, and neighbourhoods provide the opportunity to grow food and teach tamariki how to care for the whenua. Litter collection programmes bring volunteers together to restore the environment, foster community pride and contribute to looking after the whenua.

Strong whānau are at the heart of strong communities. By creating local jobs, building skills, and sparking intergenerational learning, our partnerships contribute to giving whānau and hapori the tools to thrive together.

Partnering with Manurewa Rugby League Football & Sports Club Inc to drive local employment through Hāpai Te Hapori Programmme

Citycare Property's Hāpai Te Hapori Programme (Uplift The Community) is continuing to grow, with Manurewa Marlins the latest club to join the movement of rethinking local service delivery to create jobs, skills and community pride.

As New Zealand's largest rugby league club, with 57 teams and thousands of players and whānau, the Marlins is now employing its own people to help look after its facilities. Supported by Citycare Property, these jobs are close to home, reducing transport barriers and giving locals the chance to build skills and confidence. Alongside the employment opportunities, it is also weaving stewardship into its culture - from juniors picking up litter before training, to seniors modelling responsibility for facilities, to whole-club clean-up days that bring the community together.

This is the third initiative in Citycare Property's Hāpai Te Hapori programme, which partners with South Auckland clubs and community groups to act as subcontractors, employing local people to maintain their own spaces.

But it's much more than simply handing over a contract. Citycare Property works alongside each club through the full lifecycle – from helping establish them as contractors, to training them in systems and safety, and supporting them to succeed.

Te Puna Raranga: A New Home for Weaving at the Auckland Botanic Gardens

In early 2024, Auckland Council commissioned Dr Richard Cooper to design a whare pora (weaving house) for the Auckland Botanic Gardens. Citycare Property's Auckland capital works team had the privilege of bringing Dr Cooper's design to life.

Construction of the weaving platform was led by Citycare Property. The complexity of the design demanded a high level of technical skill. The alternating levels required precise engineering, and the installation of the intricate wooden pattern called for careful planning and craftsmanship.

Te Puna Raranga was officially opened in October 2025. It is now a place where people can gather, learn, and continue the traditions of raranga in a space shaped by the community built for generations to come. It was an honour for Citycare Property to be part of this project.

Smarter, Safer Pool Maintenance

Citycare Property delivers annual recreational centre and pool maintenance across seven indoor pools in Franklin, Manurewa, Papakura, Ōtāhuhu, Māngere, Papatoetoe, and Ōtara in South Auckland.

Our building maintenance teams also look after three outdoor pool facilities under Auckland Council's Rima contract. For cost efficiency and to minimise downtime of these community facilities, Citycare Property works closely with Council to develop a carefully planned maintenance programme, which involves shutting down the affected areas.

They operate under very tight timeframes to minimise the impact of the maintenance programme on the community.
