Supporting Ola le Ola Aotearoa

At Citycare Property, our purpose is to enhance the wellbeing of our communities, and that our responsibilities from time to time extend beyond our usual business operations.

Recently, we were proud to support Ola le Ola Aotearoa, a South Auckland organisation providing transitional housing and wellbeing support for young people aged 17–24, especially Pasifika youth, with new, large garden boxes built by our own kaimahi.

Each garden box comes complete with soil, seedlings, and tools donated by our partners, who like us, share the belief that supporting communities to grow their own kai, strengthen local connections, and create hands-on learning opportunities.

Community organisations like Ola le Ola Aotearoa make a huge difference to our neighbourhoods, and we’re proud to work alongside them on this initiative. This project has been made possible through the generosity and teamwork of many: from the volunteer hours that our kaimahi put into building the boxes, to donated seedlings from Zealandia and gardening tools from Horticentre.

We look forward to seeing these gardens flourish and make a difference for local whānau. We were honoured to receive this feedback from Andrew Tauai, Housing Manager at Ola le Ola Aotearoa:

“The gift of these garden boxes is so much more than timber, soil, and plants - it is a powerful act of service that will nurture life, growth, and healing in our community for years to come. Knowing that your staff gave their personal time, energy, and heart outside of work hours to build them speaks volumes about the culture of kindness and the values Citycare holds.

Your thoughtfulness in gathering support from Zealandia and Horticentre, and ensuring every detail was covered, shows a level of generosity that goes beyond donation - it’s a true partnership.

Yesterday was a moment of inspiration for our staff and tupulaga (young people). In the words of our ancestral chiefs, fa’afetai le aga lelei, o lau pule lea - which translates to ‘Thank you for your generosity, your gift is our honour’.

What you have given us will grow far beyond the garden space - it will ripple into the lives of our families and the generations to come.”
