Views for the hot pools

A bit of ingenuity goes a long way and for bathers at the He Puna Taimoana hot pools in New Brighton it means the sea views now extend to the horizon.

When originally built last year, the scenic aspect can be seen standing in the grounds of the complex, but it’s hidden by fences once bathers step down into the pools.

In response to a request from the Christchurch City Council, the Citycare Property team came up with a clever, customised solution to showcase the panoramic outlook.

A hinged fence was installed and now the fence can be lowered when the pools are open and raised when they are shut (or when the easterly wind is gusting).

It’s an innovative outcome for the enjoyment of all visitors.
