Upgrade of fleet

Citycare Property is upgrading its fleet with the addition of modern vehicles which combine lower exhaust emissions and improved safety standards.

The first three of six new Hino 300 trucks were unveiled at the Citycare Property yard at Wairakei Road in Christchurch recently as part of the company’s replacement of older vehicles in the nationwide fleet this year, Head of Fleet Mark Forde says.

Most importantly, safety is enhanced in these trucks because they feature twin air bags, auto-braking, lane change departure notification and reversing cameras, Mark says.

“These new vehicles will enhance the way we provide our services to our customers and provide our team with more safety and comfort while improving the impact the trucks’ emissions have on the environment,” Citycare Property General Manager Southern Region Craig Taylor says.

The new trucks are diesel-powered and have European emissions standard 5 motors which reduce exhaust emissions compared with older vehicles.

Other benefits of the new trucks include automatic transmission and touch screens to operate the features and make them easier to drive.

Also on order is a truck mounted thermal unit used in Christchurch for high-pressure hot water weed control of both pavement and roadside gardens.

All recent passenger vehicles purchased or leased by Citycare Property were hybrid or electric vehicles (EV), Mark says.
