LSV Careers Expo 2026 Ōtautahi Christchurch
Citycare Property kaimahi enjoyed being part of this year’s Limited Service Volunteer (LSV) Careers Expo in Christchurch, continuing our commitment to supporting career pathways for rangatahi.
The LSV programme is a six-week course run by the New Zealand Defence Force and the Ministry of Social Development, focused on building confidence, life skills, and employment readiness for 18 to 24-year-olds. The programme is run four times a year at three locations across Aotearoa. Citycare Property has been a supporter of the programme for several years, offering mentoring and employment pathways.
We were fortunate to have two of our team members, Chloe Brett and Michael Reynolds, join us to share their experiences since completing the LSV programme.
Chloe, has experienced several roles at Citycare Property, is now working in the signwriting unit on our Christchurch team, spoke about how LSV gave her the confidence and skills to reset her path and build a career she values. Michael, an Apprentice Gardener in our Road Landscapes team, was named Limited Service Volunteer of the Year in 2025. His journey from a short-term contract to full-time employment reflects the determination and growth that the programme inspires.
We hope our participation in this year's LSV Careers Expo inspires rangatahi to consider careers in open space maintenance and facilities management. We have an incredible and supportive team of people who are passionate about mentoring, sharing their knowledge, and helping young people see the possibilities that lie ahead. By creating welcoming workplaces and offering clear pathways, our kaimahi ensure rangatahi feel encouraged to take the next step in building meaningful careers.
Last year, Citycare Property was honoured to receive the Employer Recognition to the Limited Service Volunteer Programme at the Minister of Defence’s 2025 Tohu Awards. This recognition highlights our ongoing support for the LSV programme and the opportunities it creates for young New Zealanders.
We are proud to stand alongside the NZDF and other organisations in helping rangatahi take the next step in their careers and contribute to their communities.
