Innovation and Efficiency
One of the key deliverables that we pride ourselves on at Citycare Property is the ability to take an innovative approach when it comes to project delivery. A recent project with our client, Department of Internal Affairs, to remove six redundant HVAC condenser units from a rooftop plant on a Whanganui building is a great example of that approach. Using a bit of lateral thinking we turned what could have been a two week long project, causing significant client disruption, into a quick yet effective turn around. The Citycare plan involved temporary removal of roof purlins, unbolting the units and craning them off the building. The work was completed in a single Saturday, causing minor disruption and resulting in significant cost savings for our client.
Citycare Property had a great team of sub-contractors involved including carpenters, crane operators and traffic management. As always, we had a substantial H & S plan in place and, given the sites high profile, it was pleasing to complete a smooth and efficient delivery for the client.
One of the issues we had to manage carefully on the day was keeping a close weather watch. The units couldn’t be removed in high winds, so we had constant monitoring in place to ensure safety.
The redundant condenser units were subsequently disposed of as scrap metal.
