Franklin Pool and Leisure Centre - Pukekohe
Kids’ squeals of delight prove the enhancements at the Franklin Pool and Leisure Centre in Pukekohe are a great success.
Citycare Property’s Carpentry Team upgraded some of the facilities during the annual pool closedown in January.
A new artificial beach/splash pad was installed beside the learners’ pool using special Playbases TPV matting which includes sprinklers activated by kids jumping, Carpentry Supervisor Amit Sharma says.
Play Matta Kidz safety matting was then installed to surround the learners’ pool.
Now children have a cushioned surface between the floor and their feet as they enter and exit the pool, Amit says.
The soft, non-slip matting to help prevent poolside accidents is made in Otaki from recycled PVC plastic.
Maintenance of the suspended ceiling tiles was undertaken from scaffolding put in place in the main pool without the water being emptied, Amit says.
Also, new cubby holes for families’ belongings were added in the pool foyer.
At the Moana-Nui-a-Kiwa Pool and Leisure Centre in Māngere, the family picnic area alongside the exterior pools was upgraded, he says.
Two new picnic tables were installed in February during the annual closedown there.
