Citycare Property kicks-off Whangārei Parks and Gardens contract
Monday, 1 August marks the exciting start of Citycare Property’s five-year Parks and Gardens Maintenance Contract with Whangārei District Council (WDC). The contract includes the ongoing management of more than 300 hectares of parks across the district.
The WDC awarded the contract back in February. On appointing Citycare Property to the contract, WDC Manager Parks & Recreation, Sue Hodge says: “Councillors saw this decision as a ‘step change’ for Whangārei District and were excited to work with a CCTO they considered had similar values to a Council organisation.”
Over the past six months Citycare Property has been busy securing the right people, plant and facilities to ensure the contract is carried out to the satisfaction of all stakeholders. An integral part of that work included upskilling our core contract team who were sent to the Auckland and Waikato branches for their inductions. This onboarding process has given them the opportunity to become familiar with Citycare Property’s innovative software platform, operations and health and safety culture.
“Citycare Property prides itself on being a people-first organisation, as well as a good Kiwi company,” says Whangārei Branch Manager, Dan Isaac. “The overriding principle of the way we work is that we care for people, the environment and the world we pass on to future generations. Myself and my team are raring to go and are excited to be at the start of what we envision to be a long and fruitful partnership, not only with council but with the people of Whangārei as well.”
This is aligned to one of Citycare Property’s own Strategic Priorities’ of being a “Good Kiwi Company”, within which ‘Thriving Local Communities’ plays a central part. Citycare Property actively encourages thriving local communities through impactful partnerships and projects focussing on wellbeing, the environment, inclusion, equity and increasing opportunities for community economic development.
To this end Citycare Property is actively participating in dialogue with local community interest groups and organisations in Whangārei, with the goal of building long-term, mutually beneficial relationships.
