Citycare Property and Oranga Tamariki Kaimahi Support Tamariki Housing
Our Citycare Property kaimahi proudly joined forces with Oranga Tamariki staff to help prepare a newly refurbished home for tamariki in need of a safe and welcoming space.
Over the course of a few hours, our team rolled up their sleeves to do painting, landscaping, furniture assembly, and tidying up the grounds.
“The property will eventually be home to tamariki with different needs. This working bee day was a great opportunity to bring together those involved to understand and appreciate the positive impact we hope this project would make in our community,” says Thomas Parackal, Project Portfolio Manager at Citycare Property.
Working side by side with Oranga Tamariki staff, it was a privilege to support this project and help ensure everything was ready for the children’s arrival. This initiative reflects Citycare Property’s commitment to community wellbeing and its ongoing partnership with Oranga Tamariki.
Andrew Banks, Senior Project Manager at Citycare Property says, “It was a great day with some great people for a great cause. It was incredibly rewarding to be part of something that will support the wellbeing of tamariki. Ngā mihi to everyone involved”
The refurbished home has been thoughtfully modified to meet the needs of tamariki, their whānau, and their carers. It offers open, shared living areas for connection, as well as private spaces where tamariki can find peace and quiet. Amenities have also been included for visiting whānau, ensuring everyone feels welcome and supported.
The property features modern design elements, up-to-date safety features, and is fully wheelchair accessible. The landscaped outdoor area provides a secure and inviting space for tamariki to play, relax, and spend time together.
Oranga Tamariki’s Project Manager Shelley Mitchell says, “It has been a pleasure working with the professional team at Citycare on this very important Community House project.”
“Our focus was to deliver a home that provides a safe and supportive environment for tamariki and whānau.”
Shelley says delivering this project required technical expertise and a shared understanding of the social purpose behind it.
“The Citycare team worked collaboratively to ensure every aspect of the home was thoughtfully designed and constructed to support our vision. Their proactive approach and attention to detail helped ensure the project was completed to a high standard, whilst reflecting the values and purpose of Oranga Tamariki.”
“A very special thank you to all of the Citycare Project Delivery team, Thomas Parackal, Oranga Tamariki frontline team, and a special thanks to Andrew Banks for his leadership and embracing the values Oranga Tamariki holds itself to. Ngā mihi nui to you all.”
