Citycare Property acquires Spencer Henshaw Ltd

Citycare Ltd has acquired the Spencer Henshaw Ltd business including Panmure Property Holdings and SW Scaffolding. Spencer Henshaw is aligned to the strategy of Citycare Property, a trading business of Citycare Limited (CCL). CCL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Christchurch City Holdings Limited (CCHL).

Spencer Henshaw (Spencers) is one of the oldest Property Maintenance Companies in New Zealand, employing over 230 staff and with a sub-contractor network of more than 3000 tradespeople. Spencers is currently a privately owned company, and its operations are aligned with those of Citycare Property. Spencers currently provide a full range of property repair, maintenance, and upgrade services within the social housing sector.

CEO of Citycare Property, Peter Lord said that the purchase is “an important step in the growth of Citycare Property and will further solidify its position as a strong and reliable provider of services to the New Zealand social infrastructure sector”.

“This purchase enables us to grow our market share in the social housing sector which is a core component of our Towards 2030 Strategy. We are looking forward to the start of a new working relationship with Spencers. There is strong synergy between the two companies, in that we are both New Zealand owned businesses and we share similar values with a shared commitment to health and safety, genuine care for our people and sub-contractors and the provision of excellent service to our customers and our communities”.

“Citycare believes in the Spencer Henshaw business, its people, and its sub-contractor whānau. It views Spencers as a very special business with great people” he adds.

Spencers will continue to operate as a standalone company with the current management team and staff continuing in their present roles.

CCHL is fully supportive of the acquisition of Spencer Henshaw Ltd. by Citycare Property.
