Christmas Clean Up
When thousands turn up to a party, it takes a lot to clean up!
For the past fifteen years Citycare have mucked in to do their bit and clean up at the end of the annual Santa Parade in Christchurch city. This year was no different.
The 1.2 kilometre parade route down Madras Street on Sunday 8 December featured 135 floats and groups and more than 2500 performers. There were stormtroopers, marching girls, wizards and of course the merry man himself, accompanied by obligatory reindeer. Within 30 minutes of the parade ending the central city streets had been blown, swept, scrubbed and cleaned by our wonderfully efficient team.
Ten Citycare staff followed 100 metres behind the Santa float to gather up the debris while another two team members took responsibility for towing floats.
Citycare donates their time to the clean-up, in an effort to make the delivery of this annual event more affordable for the Christchurch Children’s Christmas Parade Trust.
