The Tongan Catholic Church and Citycare Property came together in late November to do a big clean-up of parks and reserves in Auckland. More than 300 people from Citycare Property and the church community picked up litter in six parks including Manukau Sports Bowl, Hayman Park, Mountfort Park, Ray Small Park, Rongomai and Preston Reserve.
The Tongan Catholic Church has 24 churches in Auckland and several in RIMA and were looking for a way to extend their volunteer work beyond caring for their homes and their churches. In addition, they also wanted to better educate their children on the importance of looking after the environment – this resonated with Citycare’s core value ‘We Care’ and our passion for the communities we work in.
Citycare Property assisted with Health and Safety, scoped and recommended parks suitable for de-littering and gathered Citycare volunteers to act as supervisors.

Monday, 1 August marks the exciting start of Citycare Property’s five-year Parks and Gardens Maintenance Contract with Whangārei District Council (WDC). The contract includes the ongoing management of more than 300 hectares of parks across the district. The WDC awarded the contract back in February.
On Monday, 25 July, Citycare Property joined four other council contractors in partnering with Christchurch City Council to operate a battery electric specialist truck within their businesses — part of a broader project by council to help it achieve its goal of halving greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
